Lawyers to walk for justice in Colchester
24 April 2013 by Tony Fisher
Hundreds of lawyers will join forces on April 29th when they walk through Colchester to raise funds for the Eastern Legal Support Trust. The ten kilometre sponsored walk is the first annual Colchester Legal Walk and will start and finish at Castle Park.
Tony Fisher, Senior Partner at QualitySolicitors Fisher Jones Greenwood commented: “With the recent cuts to Legal Aid, supporting free legal advice centres is more important than ever knowing how short they are of the funds to continue their work. The role of legal charities is a vital one and in walking for justice, we’re hoping to make sure that those in need will have access to justice. The turnout for the first Colchester walk should be fantastic and hopefully everyone will dig deep to make sure we raise as much money as we can.”
The Eastern Legal Support Trust funds Law Centres and pro bono agencies in the East of England, helping to prevent the loss of many advice services for some of the most vulnerable people in society. Sponsored by the Law Society and local law firm QualitySolicitors Fisher Jones Greenwood, the walk has generated huge interest so far with over 50 walkers already registered to take part.
For more information about how you can register to take part as a law firm, chambers, law college, in-house legal team or individual, please email email@example.com.
