Fitness and Fundraising kick into gear at FJG
19 June 2015 by Paula Fowler
Essex law firm Fisher Jones Greenwood LLP has helped to raise funds for Essex Age UK by taking part in this year’s Chelmsford Race4Business.
Partner Paula Fowler along with lawyers Emily Waterhouse, Lawrence Adams and Thomas Utting all took to the streets of Chelmsford on Thursday evening to run the 2.5 mile race. Running alongside FJG were Jason Skelton and Mark Simons from FitOdyssey who FJG are partnering with in a push to become the fittest law firm in the East!
Jason Skelton was the first of the group to finish with an impressive 22:57, closely followed by Lawrence Adams with an equally impressive 24:48, putting them both inside the top 200. All six runners were comfortably inside the 40 minute mark for the race that will hopefully raise £25,000 for charity. Now in its 17th year, the race has already raised nearly £500k for good causes and attracted over 1,000 runners this time around.
Paula Fowler, Managing Partner at FJG, commented, “The opportunity to raise money for good causes around Essex through a great event was one that we were keen to grasp with both hands. Not only do events like these help vulnerable people around Essex but they also help us to get a little bit fitter while we do it!”.
Adding to the sporting achievements for FJG this week were the golfing team of Amy Herring, Lucinda White, Ashton Carter and Matt Cann who took part in the Elwell Taylor Hackers golf day, also in Chelmsford, on Wednesday. Covering both ends of the spectrum of golfers, the staff and partners of FJG managed to scoop three prizes on what was a very successful day.
Ms Fowler continued, “Our participation in these events really helps to promote a healthy and active lifestyle for our staff. As an Investor in People for over ten years this is something that is very important to FJG and something we will be focusing on throughout the year with more exciting developments to come in the near future.”.
