Simon Osborn, Partnership Member
Simon is a solicitor and partnership member and is head of our family team. He has 25 years' experience in divorce and family Law. His expertise lies in high value and complex financial cases, often involving family businesses, multiple properties and pensions. He is experienced in contested cases concerning residence and contact with children and in disputes relating to the property and children of unmarried couples.
Simon is a member of the Law Society Family Panel at Advanced Level and he is an Accredited Resolution Specialist in Financial Provision and Children. He is also a trained Collaborative Family Lawyer and has successfully concluded cases using this alternative to court based litigation. He is based at our Charter Court office, which is on the Colchester Business Park on the north side of Colchester close to the A12.

Jane Wilson, Partnership Member
Jane is a Solicitor and Partnership member in our large Family Team which offers services across the county from our two Colchester offices and our offices in Chelmsford and Clacton. She was admitted in 1987, having previously been educated at Colchester County High School and then going on to graduate from Essex University. Jane became a Partner in her then legal practice within a year of qualification and since then has specialised in all aspects of family law.
Jane became a Partner at Fisher Jones Greenwood LLP in 2000 and she now primarily deals with high value, complex financial cases and private children cases arising from relationship breakdowns. She has developed a particular expertise in cases involving business as well as privately owned assets.
She was one of the first collaborative lawyers in the country, having trained in London in March 2005 and she will take a non-adversarial approach to negotiations wherever possible without compromising on the overriding objective of achieving fair and reasonable outcomes for her clients. She is a long-standing member of Resolution (formerly the Solicitors Family Law Association), a former treasurer of the Colchester Conciliation Service, and a liaising officer of the Colchester Collaborative Practice Group.
Jane has a high and established reputation for the standard of service that she has provided to her clients and to the profession over many years. She has been listed in the Legal 500 Guide as handling £2m plus cases both collaboratively and conventionally.

Chris Graves, Partnership Member
Chris is a Partner and Solicitor Advocate with over thirty years experience in Family and Civil Law. He was recently accorded Higher Court advocacy rights of audience in all levels of civil proceedings up to the House of Lords. He acts for private, farm and commercial landlords, preparing tenancy and licence agreements for residential property and notices and possession proceedings. Chris has held a number of public posts including Colchester Borough Councillor, Chairman of Colchester Quaker Housing Association and Chairman of Governors of Colchester County High School. He has served on governing bodies or been a legal advisor to many local charities and recently as President of Suffolk and North Essex Law Society. He has a longstanding interest in family and local history and is a founder member of Langham Heritage Society

Kate Taylor, Partnership Member
Kate is a Partner within the Family team. She has extensive experience in conducting complex financial cases involving property and also cases involving children. Kate is the Partner in charge of Family mediation at the firm. She qualified as a family Mediator in 1991 and Commercial and Civil Mediator in 2002 and has since practised this work in conjunction with her work as a Solicitor. She is also a Professional Practice Consultant (PPC) in Mediation. She has the following accreditations and qualifications: Resolution accredited member with specialisms in financial provision and the law relating to children; trained in the area of Collaborative Law (2005); a member of the Law Society Mediation Panel; a member of the Panel of Mediators for the Court of Appeal Mediation Scheme; a member of the Family Mediators Association; an ADR UK trained Civil and Commercial Mediator. She is a board member with the Family Mediators Association and a trustee of a local child contact centre. She is also a member of the Essex Family Justice Council. Kate is a keen horsewoman who has owned and been involved with horses since she was a child. She currently keeps a horse in livery and rides as often as she is able.

Nigel Humphreys, Partnership Member
Nigel was admitted as a solicitor in 1979 and has over 25 years’ experience in all areas of general litigation and advocacy, but now specialises in family and children work. He was appointed a member of the Law Society Children Panel in 1993, a Solicitors’ Family Law Association Accredited specialist in January 2000, and obtained Higher Court Advocacy rights in Civil Proceedings in January 2004. Nigel is also trained in collaborative law. As a full time criminal prosecutor in Birmingham for 5 years he appeared daily as an advocate and has conducted many criminal trials in the magistrates’ Courts, both for the prosecution and the defence. More recently as an advocate in care proceedings he has conducted numerous contested hearings before District and Circuit judges lasting up to 5 days. He has extensive experience of financial and ancillary relief cases, including representing clients at final contested hearings. Nigel has special expertise in cohabitation property disputes, involving difficult issues of Trust and Property law. Nigel is a regular contributor to the Legal Action Group Journal on Children and Family Law Issues, and regularly writes articles on legal issues. As a partnership member in the Family Team he is responsible for their in-house legal training programme, and has recently given an external training course in Pensions on Divorce for the Law Society. Nigel has also served for many years as a school governor.

Lisa Tuckwell, Partnership Member
Lisa is an experienced family lawyer and partnership member. She has worked in the legal profession since 1985 and has been part of the Fisher Jones Greenwood team since 1998. She is also a qualified solicitor.Her area of specialism is family law including divorce, ancillary relief, private law Children Act proceedings, injunctions, cohabitant disputes and child protection issues.
She specialises in emergency applications, such as injunctions. To this end she is involved with Essex Police and the Colchester and Tendring Women’s Refuge as part of the Domestic Violence Forum. Lisa was involved in The Court of Appeal case [Wood v Collins 2006] where a Judge's sentence on an injunction was successfully appealed. The case was reported in The Times and the Law Reports.
She also works with Counsel and is an In-Court Advocate. She enjoys the challenge of advocacy work and is developing her skills in this area. Lisa is based in our Norfolk House offices.

Rachel Earnshaw, Solicitor
Rachel Earnshaw qualified as a solicitor in 2002 having joined Fisher Jones Greenwood in 2000. Her expertise lies in all areas of family law, but she is particularly interested in child care proceedings (she has been appointed to the Law Society's Children Panel) and Civil Partnerships for same sex couples. As part of the Family Law team Rachel advises clients about divorce, dissolution, ancillary relief, cohabitant disputes and contact and residence issues for children. She also assists parents in child care cases involving Social Services and as a Children Panel member she is also able to represent children in these proceedings.
Rachel enjoys working within the community and attends regularly at our Clacton Office, as well as at Harwich Citizen’s Advice Bureau as part of our Tendring Outreach project.
She has retained links with Staffordshire University, where she studied, by acting as a Practitioner Mentor for students and those joining the legal profession. Rachel is based in our Norfolk House offices, which are next to the Court.

Natasha Webb, Solicitor
Natasha is a qualified Solicitor working as part of the Family team. Natasha’s particular expertise is in Children Law, Care Proceedings and Child Protection. She is a member of the Law Society’s Children Panel and regularly represents children through their Court appointed Guardian, as well as parents and carers in Court proceedings. Charlotte Knappett, Solicitor
Charlotte is a qualified solicitor in the Family Department and is currently based at our Chelmsford Office. She is a Resolution Accredited specialist in private law children and domestic abuse however also advises on all aspects of family law including divorce, ancillary relief, forced marriages and disputes between cohabitants. Charlotte is also qualified to give advice on housing law. Charlotte is also a keen advocate and endeavours to represent her clients from the first meeting and throughout litigation if that becomes necessary. She is a founder member of Future Lawyers of Colchester (F.L.O.C.) which is a support group where newly qualified local lawyers can share their experiences and offer support to one another.

Glenn Craig, Solicitor
Glenn qualified as a solicitor in 2005. Before joining Fisher Jones Greenwood he worked for Edwards Duthie Solicitors, a very busy legal aid practice based in East London.
Prior to that Glenn worked as a specialist for the Citizen’s Advice Bureau in Witham, Essex and as a specialist benefits adviser with the Social Services department in Barnet.
Glenn’s experience includes preventing eviction, including representation at possession proceedings, help with benefit problems, representation to secure release from detention under the Mental Health Act and taking or threatening High Court action to enforce individual rights to welfare payments, housing or care services from Government or Local Government.

Andrea Godfrey, Solicitor
After completing her studies in South Africa and studying the LPC at the University of Hertfordshire, Andrea qualified as a solicitor in 1999. Andrea has a broad knowledge of the law which includes conveyancing, civil litigation and family work. As a specialist in family law, she has in depth experience of divorce, ancillary relief and domestic violence. In 2010 Andrea restarted the Colchester Ladies Circle and has helped raise significant sums for Colchester based charities such as Colchester Women's refuge and the Night Shelter.

Caroline is a qualified solicitor and the senior fee earner working in the family law department at Clacton. She joined the firm in 2000 and has over 10 years' experience in Family Law. Caroline is a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives and qualified as a Solicitor on September 15th 2011. Balwinder Tank, Trainee Solicitor
Balwinder is a trainee Solicitor in the family team based in Chelmsford. She has a particular interest in this area of law and even worked as a paralegal for a firm of family lawyers whilst she was studying for her law degree. She studied for her Legal Practice Course (LPC) at the Nottingham Law School where her chosen electives were private client, commercial law, family law and child protection. After completing her LPC she worked for a sole practitioner and gained experience in family, employment, commercial, property and medical law. She has also worked as a caseworker at Essex County Council where she dealt with care proceedings, supervision orders, placement applications and adoption.

Adrian (A.J.) Hope-Lewis, Trainee Solicitor
A.J. is a trainee Solicitor in the family team based in Colchester.
Having previously read psychology at the University of London, A.J. worked initially for a Colchester based law firm dealing mainly with personal injury cases. After a number of years working in other industries, A.J. returned to law and completed his law degree and Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in Bloomsbury, London. A.J. has a particular interest in family law, specifically care cases and cases dealing with capacity.
