A new report titled "Colchester: A State of the Economy" has been launched and presented to a local business group.
The report covers key points such as GDP, population and employment statistics, plus commercial data including the survival rate of new businesses and the number of VAT and PAYE businesses in the town. It has also uncovered that businesses in Colchester have the second highest turnover rate in Essex.
Nigel Myers, Enterprise and Tourism Manager at Colchester Borough Council, presented the contents of the report to members of the Colchester Business Group (CBG) at a recent meeting held at the offices of Fisher Jones Greenwood LLP. The Group members, consisting of representatives from Colchester Borough Council, The Institute of Directors, Colchester 20:20, Chamber of Commerce, Federation of Small Businesses, Business Link, Colchester Retail and Business Association, Colchester Business and Enterprise Agency (COLBEA), Destination Colchester and the Severalls Business Club, will be circulating the details of the report to their own membership groups.
Tony Fisher, Partner at Fisher Jones Greenwood Solicitors and Chairman of the Severalls Business Club, said: “The contents of this report were fascinating, in terms of the positive outlook for commercial enterprises and job seekers in the town”.
