Wills and Trusts
Fisher Jones Greenwood LLP has extensive experience of dealing with sensitive
issues, including writing wills and dealing with probate. Our team is caring
and supportive, offering sympathy and understanding in times of bereavement.
The firm provides a convenient service, by offering home or hospital visits
to those who are unable to attend the offices.
The firm offers advice and assistance with regard to general Wills and Trusts
matters, but with regard to Community Care in particular, has expertise in the
following areas:
- Living Wills for people who wish to express their wishes about their
treatment, care and support in the event of them being unable to do this at a
later time
- Discretionary Trusts – for example, for the parents of disabled children who
wish to make provision for their children. This can be particularly important
as Vulnerable children or adults who are left with an inheritance may be unable
to manage that inheritance, and it may also affect their entitlement to housing,
housing assistance, benefits and Community Care services. This is because the
capital may take them over the means threshold for free services.
Financial Planning and Care Home Fees
If a person is assessed as not being eligible for fully funded NHS Continuing
Care, and they have property, capital or income over a certain threshold, they
may have to pay for their care home fees and various costs of their care. This
can be very expensive. They can take advice on how best to manage their
finances and assets. While this firm does not offer financial advice about how
to manage a person’s finances, an Independent Financial Advisor should be able
to help with advice about how to deal with this. However, the firm does deal
with conveyancing transactions, transfer of equity and ownership of assets,
commercial transactions, establishing Trusts, etc, for people who have taken
advice and want to proceed with carrying out the necessary transactions.
