Your Local Education Authority has a duty to provide home to school travel
assistance for the following:
- A pupil who has a statement of SEN to the school named in Part 4. However if
the statement names the school 'at parental preference' the LEA will not be
under a duty to provide transport. Please contact us for further advice
regarding this
- Pupils under the age of 8 who have to walk more than two miles (statutory
walking distance) to school in certain circumstances
- Pupils aged 8 or over who have to walk more than three miles (statutory
walking distance) to school in certain circumstances
- Pupils who cannot be reasonably expected to walk to school due to any SEN,
disability or mobility problems in certain circumstances
- Pupils who cannot be reasonably expected to walk to school due to the nature
of the routes in certain circumstances
- Pupils who are entitled to free school dinners in certain
circumstances
In addition to the above the LEA can use their
discretion to provide transport to pupils who do not fit into any of the above
criteria.
Please contact us if you consider your child is
entitled to home to school travel assistance for the following:
- Advice on your child's entitlement to home to school travel
assistance
- Drafting an application for transport
- If an application is refused, we can review the decision, draft grounds of
appeal and in some cases we can provide representation at an appeal
- If you have appealed against a transport decision, which was unsuccessful we
can review the decision to see if any further action can be taken.
