There are certain circumstances in which a parent whose child resides in the United Kingdom (UK) can apply for permission to enter or remain in the UK in order to have contact with their child. If your application is successful, you will be granted an initial period of 12 months leave to enter or remain in the UK. Towards the end of this 12 month period, you will be able to apply for indefinite leave to remain in the UK so long as you meet the requirements of the relevant immigration rules.
