Visiting the UK

There are many different categories available for those for wish to apply for Entry Clearance to visit the UK from abroad. It is important that you ensure that you choose the right category for the purpose of your visit. Common to all these applications is that you must be able to maintain and accommodate yourself without claiming any benefits and you must also intend to leave the UK at the end of your stay.

The categories are as follows:-

• General Visitors - for tourists (there are special requirements for groups of Chinese nationals)

• Family Visitors - for those visiting family in the UK

• Student or prospective student visitors -for those wanting to study in the UK for a short period

• Child Visitors - for those under 18 years old

• Business visitors - for those wanting to do business in the UK

• Prospective entrepreneurs - for those looking to set up a business in the UK (Prospective Entrepreneurs)

• Entertainer - For those performing or auditioning in the UK

• Transit visitors - For those travelling through the UK

There are also categories for those coming to the UK to get married or register a civil partnership and to receive private medical treatment.
