Fisher Jones Greenwood’s education law advice service is available to anyone with concerns about a child’s or their own education. Particular focus is give to children excluded from school, children with special educational needs and vulnerable children and young adults who are not receiving the appropriate level of statutory services. Our lawyers are able to provide representation for statutory appeals panels,
First-tier Tribunal (Special Educational Needs and Disability) also known as SEND,
High Court, Court of Appeal
and the Supreme Court in applications for judicial review or free standing human rights claims.
In addition we can also advise on primary and secondary school admissions and appeals (including phase transfers and infant class size appeals), transport issues, and discrimination.
For qualifying people in receipt of welfare benefits or on a low income, Fisher Jones Greenwood has a contract with the Legal Services Commission to provide free legal advice and assistance through the Legal Help Scheme. Legal Aid is also available for High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court casework, subject to an assessment by the Legal Services Commission of the client’s means and the legal merits of the case.
Our education department is based at our out of town offices near the A12 on the outskirts of Colchester, giving easy access from Essex, London and East Anglia.
