Local education authorities
At Fisher Jones Greenwood LLP we have considerable experience of providing legal services to local authorities. We currently provide out-sourced legal services to Braintree District Council. More recently our lawyers have provided in-house training on education law and human rights to representatives and head teachers from Cambridge and Suffolk local authorities.
In house advocacy services
The in-house advocacy services of our education law expert Yvonne Spencer who has higher rights of audience in all civil and criminal higher courts, enables us to offer a competitive service to local authorities embroiled in education disputes in the higher courts and Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal (SENDIST). Our in-house advocacy service saves local authorities the cost of instructing separate solicitors and barristers as we can provide a specialist ‘one-stop shop’. Yvonne Spencer (01206 835241) has considerable experience of taking education cases before the SENDIST and the High Court.
Mediation services
Our mediation services provide an innovative way for local authorities to resolve issues without recourse to legal proceedings. Professional independent mediation services can help local authorities avoid SENDIST appeals, High Court judicial reviews, complaints to the local government ombudsman and not least, unwelcome media attention. For further details about our mediation services contact Chris Yemm 01206 835250.
