Adoption

The Guardian in Care Proceedings - FJG Solicitors Colchester Essex UKThe Court hearing the Care Proceedings cannot make an Order for adoption as such, but it can approve a plan for adoption when making a Final Court Order. Every parent worries that their child may be adopted as a result of Care Proceedings, and Social Services are required to consider all options at the outset, rather than stage by stage. This is called "parallel planning".

The Court can, when making a Care Order, also consider making a "Freeing Order" that prevents the parents from opposing any later adoption proceedings.
