Going to Court
The vast majority of divorces and financial disputes are resolved by agreement and do not involve any Court attendance.
If a Court hearing is necessary in your case, it will be in private. There is no fancy dress. The Judges wear lounge suits, the proceedings are formal however and evidence is usually taken on oath. District Judges who deal with most divorce and financial issues are addressed as "Sir" or "Madam". Circuit Judges who deal with appeals and contested issues relating to children are addressed as "Your Honour". The Court will usually be your local County Court.
