Civil Partnership

The Civil Partnership Act gives lesbian, gay and bisexual couples the option of making a formal lifelong commitment to each other, as opposite-sex couples can through marriage.

Since 21st December 2005 same sex couples have been able to make a formal, legal commitment to each other by registering their partnership under this Act.

Registration involves serious duties and obligations as well as important legal rights and protections.

If you have recently entered into a civil partnership you may need to revise your will. For further information click here - Wills Guide

How FJG can Help

We are one of the largest Family Law departments in East Anglia, with a Legal Aid Franchise and members of the Law Society's Children Panel and the Solicitors Family Law Association.

We all subscribe to the SFLA Code of Practice which requires lawyers to take a non-adversarial approach and bring both firmness and fairness to family disputes.

Our solicitors are all experienced advocates in the County and Magistrates Courts.

Through the Family Law Partnership, we also provide solicitor mediators for all family disputes and a direct link to an independent counselling service.

We offer a fixed fee initial diagnostic interview and can tailor financial packages to your particular needs.

We are authorised by the Legal Services Commission to conduct cases on Legal Aid (CLS funding). Go to our Legal Aid section to see if you qualify.

Most of all, we know what we are doing. We're all lawyers with different expertise but who specialise in family law cases.

Contact one of our Civil Partnership team on civilpartners@fjg.co.uk or telephone us on 01206 578282.

You can also email your details to civilpartners@fjg.co.uk if you would like to receive our comprehensive information pack.
