Change to the Shortage Occupation List for Work Permits
With effect from the 18 December 2006 actuaries will be removed from the Shortage Occupation List.
This means that all work permit applications received by Work Permits UK on or after the 18 December 2006 for actuaries will mean that employers will be required to sumbit evidence that the post has been advertised with full details of those who applied and were interviewed and why resident nationals were not considered suitable.
Those actuaries with work permits already, extending or changing employment whose applications are received on or after the 18 December 2006, will be considered under the normal criteria. This means if there has been a significant change in duties and/or pay and conditioins the employer will need to demonstrate a full resident labour test has been complied with.
