How FJG Can Help
We are an established law firm with a first class reputation, providing top quality immigration advice to businesses, employers and private individuals.
Our Immigration team has a wealth of experience in the specialist field of immigration advice. It is active in association with members of the World renowned Human Rights Centre at the University of Essex.
We aim to offer simply straightforward and relevant advice to individuals and businesses.
We are located in Colchester, and we offer a competitive, high quality service to local and regional clients, including those in the London area.
Our objective is to provide a quality service based upon our extensive knowledge of all aspects of immigration and nationality law. If you instruct us to advise and represent you, we will give you a complete and honest appraisal of the likelihood of the application succeeding. If there is little chance of an application succeeding, we will tell you.
If you ask us to help you prepare an application we will help you to complete the relevant form or forms or alternatively advise you whether you have completed them correctly.
We will advise you of the documentary and supporting evidence you should obtain and send in with the application. Sometimes the evidence sent in with an application can make the difference between the application succeeding or being refused or rejected.
Most importantly, we will prepare a detailed letter to go with the application (commonly called legal representations) explaining about your circumstances, explaining the law and why your circumstances mean that your application should succeed on legal grounds. In our experience, this significantly increases the likelihood of most applications succeeding. This is for a number of reasons. Firstly, it ensures that the decision maker fully understands your circumstances. It ensures that
the decision maker applies the rules and guidance relevant to your case in a fair manner. It allows any potential problems with your case to be addressed in a positive light (for example, if it is unclear whether you meet a particular part of the relevant Rules, we will make legal arguments as to why this should be treated as meeting that particular requirement).
What will it cost for us to help you?
We offer fixed rates for your initial advice appointment. These range from £100 to £200 for the initial appointment, depending on the complexity of the matter and the seniority of the lawyer advising you. At these appointments we will take the details of your circumstances and provide advice to you about the law and how it affects you.
We do not always offer fixed rate advice interviews where we are taking over the conduct of your case from another adviser where there is an ongoing application or appeal, or where the case is particularly complex.
We can also offer fixed rate charges for certain applications including £600 to £1,000 for marriage applications, £400 to £600 for applications for British Citizenship (naturalsation), £1,000 to £1,500 for Highly Skilled Migrant Program applications, £1,000 to £1,500 for applications under the innovator
category. The amount of the fixed
rate will depend upon the complexity of your case and the seniority of the lawyer dealing with it.
If some circumstances we may not offer fixed rate in the categories mentioned above if the matter is extremely complex and it will take much longer than average to deal with it. Factors that can make an application extremely complex include where you have been refused on a previous application or applications, where there is a very substantial amount of documentation that we need to consider, or where the application is unusual or where you don’t satisfy the Immigration Rules but
are making an application anyway (sometimes called a discretionary application).
Where we don’t offer fixed rate, our rates range from £110 to £175 per hour depending on the type of case and seniority of the lawyer helping you.
