What are the Requirements for a Visit Visa?
In order to qualify for a visa you must satisfy the Entry Clearance Officer of the following:
- That you are genuinely seeking entry to visit for a limited period of time not exceeding six months; and
- That you intend to leave the UK at the end of our visit; and
- You do not intend to take employment in the UK; and
- You do not intend to produce or sell business services within the UK; and
- You do not intend to study at a maintained school; and
- That you will be able to maintain and accommodate yourself and any dependants during your stay without needing to take employment or having recourse to public funds; and
- That you can meet the cost of your return or onward journey.
How is the Application Made?
If you are a visa national and wish to visit the United Kingdom you must apply for an Entry Clearance visa from a British High Commission or Embassy abroad. There is a fee for the application. The application is made on an application form and the person will need to prove they meet the requirements above.
What sort of Permission to Remain in the UK will I be Granted?
If your application is successful you will be granted leave to enter the UK for a period not exceeding six months during which time you will be prohibited from taking employment. You can complete an educational course during this time as long as it is not at a maintained school.
If during your visit you decide that you wish to remain in the UK in another capacity you will normally need to return home to apply for Entry Clearance. If you intend to do this we can advise you as to the prospects of that application being successful and assist you in preparing the application to take home with you to submit on your return.
