Housing expert joins leading law firm

Colchester law firm Fisher Jones Greenwood LLP has appointed a housing expert to its growing family law team in response to increased demand for housing advice and guidance.

Chris Ellis (32) first became interested in housing issues while studying for his PhD inChris Ellis, Housing Law at Fisher Jones Greenwood Solicitors Colchester Essex UK philosophy at Essex University.  Before joining Fisher Jones Greenwood  he spent six years working for the housing and homelessness charity Shelter as an administrator, housing case worker in Essex and Suffolk and also as a legal writer and editor on numerous publications published by Shelter.

Said Chris who hopes to qualify as a solicitor in the near future: “I am very pleased to have joined such a forward thinking law firm as Fisher Jones Greenwood. There are many pressing issues to do with housing at present from increased numbers of repossessions to homelessness and whether local authorities have a legal duty to help. In all these situations people need good legal advice which we are committed to providing.”

Chris is particularly interested in housing issues affecting young people and works closely with Lawyers for Young People, which was set up by the firm last year.
