Plan for the future and help sick children

One of Colchester’s leading law firms is offering people a unique opportunity to get their wills drawn up and help children with life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses at the same time.

Fisher Jones Greenwood LLP is supporting Wills Week which runs from 17-21 September. The week is being organised by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) to raise funds to support families of sick children in the region, and will specialists at the firm will be waiving their usual fees to draw up basic wills in return for a donation to the charity.

Tony Fisher, Senior Partner at Fisher Jones Greenwood said: “EACH is the charity we are supporting this year and so we are particularly delighted to be involved with Wills Week.  Making a will during this week will not only ensure that you make provision for your loved ones after you are gone, but that you will also be helping EACH to continue its vital work.”

Every year EACH offers care and support to over 300 life-limited children and their families in East Anglia either at home or at the charity’s hospices in Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk.

Val Horsnell, Legacy Fundraiser for EACH said: “Some children may only have a very short time to live, perhaps only weeks or months, others may reach young adulthood but our aim is always the same – to enhance their quality of life and support their family. This year it will cost around £4.9 million to run all three hospice services including our hospice in Ipswich which helps many children and their families from Colchester.  Only a small proportion of our funding comes from statutory sources meaning voluntary income is absolutely vital. Legacy income will ensure the long term future of the three hospices.  This is why we are so grateful to Fisher Jones Greenwood for its valuable support.”
