Fun in the sun for thousands at the Tendring Show
18 July 2013 by Paula Fowler
Thousands of people flocked to the 99th annual Tendring Show this Saturday as the weather turned out perfectly for one of the best shows yet.
While last year the showground near Mainngtree was turned into a mud bath by torrential downpours, this year over 20,000 visitors attended the agricultural show on a sun-drenched weekend with temperatures approaching thirty degrees.
Paula Fowler, Managing Partner at local law firm QualitySolicitors Fisher Jones Greenwood, sponsors of the food hall, said: “It is extremely important to us to support events in the local community such as the Tendring Show. Seeing such a successful show as this year is great and we are delighted to be a sponsor. We already can’t wait to come back and show our continued support, especially if we get a repeat of this year’s weather!”
At their sponsors stand in the ever popular food hall, QSFJG raised over £70 for the FJG Foundation with 120 competition entrants. The children’s art competition was a particular highlight, as the children helped to celebrate QSFJG’s 30th year in business with some fantastic birthday pictures. After some careful deliberation from the judges, the winner in the 1-10 year old category was 5 year old Lewis Barclay, while the 11-17 year old victor was 11 year old Sophie Kanssen. The adult competition was also popular this year with Diane Leach winning a luxury cocktail hamper after successfully negotiating a tough thirty year quiz.
Laura Harris, Tendring Hundred Show Food Hall Steward added, “The show this year was one of the best ever with a great turnout of visitors. It was certainly less challenging without the mud this year, although we did have to make sure everyone was ok in the heat this time! We’re so grateful for sponsors like QSFJG who continue to support the show and play a vital part in ensuring our success. With such a popular stall, I’m looking forward to seeing what they come up with next year.”.
