Equality – focuses on developing equality between Deaf and hearing customers with regards to services provided by Fisher Jones Greenwood.

FJG is also the first law firm to work with SignLive; ensuring that Deaf clients gain swifter access to a qualified British Sign Language Interpreter.

SignLive

SignLive is a deaf-owned organisation based in the UK. It is a first-class service provider of online video interpreting services; all relayed through its Video Relay Service (VRS) and Video Remote Interpreting (VRI). This allows Deaf people anywhere in the world to communicate with anyone, at any time, using an app which connects them to a qualified British Sign Language Interpreter.

At Fisher Jones Greenwood we know that Equality and Diversity is at the forefront of customer services operations for businesses and organisations. SignLive allows us to communicate with our Deaf clients in real-time, without the need to organise face-to-face interpreters.

Stonewall Diversity Champion

Stonewall is a charity which campaigns for the rights of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community and is the largest such organisation now operating in Europe.

The charity was founded in 1989 in order to oppose government legislation which discriminated against LGBT people. This legislation was to be found in section 28 of the Local Government Act which instructed local authorities not to allow the promotion of LGBT relationships in schools. The government’s policy was met with tremendous resistance by the LGBT community and led to the creation of Stonewall by its founding members which included the actors Sir Ian McKellen and Michael Cashman.

Over the years Stonewall, in addition to being a charity, has diversified into policy development advising all governments on the day to day experiences of the LGBT community. They have advised on what legislation should be enacted to improve those lives by removing discrimination and stigma and by ensuring that the community benefit from all the rights enjoyed by the rest of society.

FJG is very proud to be associated with Stonewall in promoting diversity within the workplace and in the wider community.
