Supporting the community through volunteering
FJG works together using the skills and time of all our colleagues to support community projects and disadvantaged communities through the provision of practical and financial assistance. The firm actively encourages its employees to get involved wherever possible and to give back to the locality in which we work.
The FJG Foundation has been set up for the benefit of and to support local charitable and worth causes and has supported over 36 groups, schools, charities and organisations for young people. The Trust relies on donations, but also raises money to be able to do this through events and initiatives throughout the year. The national Law Society’s law management quality mark, Lexcel is developed specifically for the legal profession. It is an optional, recognised accreditation scheme for law firms and in-house legal departments which gives assurance that a practice meets high client care and business management standards. Our Lexcel accreditation which we have held since 2007 proves a serious commitment to the continual development of our practice management standards and acts as a beacon of quality to clients and potential clients alike.
The Chambers Guides have been ranking the best law firms and lawyers since 1990, and now cover 185 jurisdictions throughout the world. We have obtained Chambers rankings for both our Family and Corporate and Commercial teams. Also, Senior Partner Tony Fisher, Family Partner Simon Osborn, and Ashlee Campbell, Partner, who heads up our Immigration team, are ranked as leaders in their fields.

Equity Release Council
Fisher Jones Greenwood became members of the Equity Release Council in 2018. The Equity Release Council are an industry body in the equity release sector; they believe in protecting and educating the consumer to the valid use and access to equity release by guiding and supporting the profession.
In 2016, Fisher Jones Greenwood is delighted to have attained Cyber Essentials accreditation, a government-backed cyber security certification scheme. The base Cyber Essentials certification covers a wide range of security processes, including account management, firewall configuration, device configuration, backup processes and other security-related configurations.
The Samaritans and Fisher Jones Greenwood LLP are committed to working together to raise the awareness and reach of the good work done by both the Samaritans and Fisher Jones Greenwood LLP, the latter especially through its charitable foundation known as the ‘FJG Foundation’. By working together, it is hoped that a real impact can be made in Chelmsford and the surrounding areas, to reduce the number of emotional distress cases recorded and ensure those that need the support offered by the Samaritans and Fisher Jones Greenwood LLP, receive it.
Samaritans' vision is that fewer people die by suicide. They work to achieve this vision by making it their mission to alleviate emotional distress and reduce the incidence of suicide feelings and suicidal behaviour.
In Chelmsford, they are open for half the week, many days around the clock. The core of their work is a telephone helpline, in addition to which they offer a drop-in service for face-to-face discussion, provide emotional support via email and SMS, undertake outreach at festivals and other outdoor events and train prisoners as "Listeners" to provide support within HMP Chelmsford. They are locally run, entirely by volunteers and receive no funds from government, having to raise everything they spend.
Law Society Excellence Awards
In 2016, at the 10th annual Law Society Excellence Awards, we won the ‘Excellence in Technology’ award as a result of our work in the design of workflows combining law and technology with our existing case management system. This enables efficient, secure access to justice for those of modest means who fell out of scope as a result of government changes imposed post LASPO (Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012).
Essex Digital Awards
The Essex Digital Awards reward businesses, charities and schools across Essex for their digital achievements over the past year. In 2016, we were awarded the bronze award in the Best Business to Business Website category and in 2015 we were also awarded the Bronze Award for best Business Blog in recognition of the interesting and informative blog posts published over that year. In addition, in 2015, FJG were also finalists for Website of the Year.
Tendring Blue Ribbon Awards
We achieved double award success in 2016 at the inaugural Tendring Blue Ribbon Awards. We won the both ‘Business in the Community’ award and the prestigious ‘Judges Award’ for all-round excellence.
We were proud winners of the prestigious Countywide Customer Service Excellence award 2011. Established for 18 years, the awards are a local platform for celebrating the very best business successes in the area. They recognise the efforts of local companies who have one thing in common, the dedication to achieve excellence.
As a firm we also hold several specialist quality marks from the Legal Services Commission in different areas of law including family, conveyancing and immigration. In addition we have previously won the Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year award, Business in the Community East of England Leadership Award for Pro Bono Company of the Year and the Communic8 Award of Excellence for New Media. Royal Association for Deaf people (RAD)
Fisher Jones Greenwood are proud partners of the Royal Association for Deaf people (RAD) and have been awarded a Deaf-Aware Quality Mark.
As one of the leading Deaf charities delivering specialist services to, and working within the Deaf Community, RAD is committed to supporting mainstream services to become more accessible to Deaf people.
Communication is one of the biggest barriers and causes of social isolation for Deaf people; meaning that access to services can be a real challenge.
There are three standards that FJG had to achieve to be awarded the Deaf-Aware Quality Mark:
Accessibility – focuses on the personnel and equipment provisions linked to reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010.
Communication – focuses on Deaf awareness and communication provision.
Equality – focuses on developing equality between Deaf and hearing customers with regards to services provided by Fisher Jones Greenwood.
FJG is also the first law firm to work with SignLive; ensuring that Deaf clients gain swifter access to a qualified British Sign Language Interpreter.
SignLive is a deaf-owned organisation based in the UK. It is a first-class service provider of online video interpreting services; all relayed through its Video Relay Service (VRS) and Video Remote Interpreting (VRI). This allows Deaf people anywhere in the world to communicate with anyone, at any time, using an app which connects them to a qualified British Sign Language Interpreter.

Fisher Jones Greenwood LLP aims to take on two or more trainee solicitors annually and we welcome applications from bright and enthusiastic candidates.
Training contracts are only offered to those who have served with us as a paralegal for 12 months. We do this to ensure we are the right firm for you and vice versa.
Paralegals are recruited as and when positions become available, and can be at any point throughout the year.
We do advertise all of our vacancies on our website, and social media feeds, so please follow us in order to receive notifications of our recruitment activity for paralegal positions.
Trainees within our firm will usually undertake four training seats of approximately 6 months including at least three of the following: commercial; commercial property, civil rights, family, residential conveyancing.
You will work with a Partner or a Solicitor for your training; and your day-to-day working hours will be spent as an integral part of their team. Trainees are fully involved from the outset in a wide range of interesting work. And although your work will be closely checked and supervised, you will be encouraged to take responsibility from an early stage.
Trainees receive a great deal of individual support and supervision. Your progress will be kept under constant review; and you will be formally appraised at the end of each training seat.
