After two weeks of our Fitodyssey progress, phase one of our programmes is complete! Our intrepid Fitodyssey participants have now begun phase two of their exercise programmes, so what does that mean?
The second phase of the programmes will see an increase in exercise and a greater focus on maintaining a healthy diet. Before phase two even kicks off though, it’s clear those taking part in the Fitodyssey programme are reaping the benefits of the commitment and efforts exerted to improve their fitness. We are seeing smiles from each person and a stream of healthier foods making their way into our offices, meaning the change is definitely happening.
Looking ahead, phase two exercise programmes now include additional stretches and exercises with an increase in time for each activity. These changes to the programmes are designed to continue the gradual improvements and gains in our fitness levels; nothing has been introduced in too much of a brutal way as some ‘crash’ dieting regimes so that at the end we won’t all be jumping for those pizzas! Of course skipping remains a prominent exercise in the programmes with our faithful skipping ropes never far from our hands.
One particularly great area of the programme so far is the meal inspirations within the nutritional sections. Sometimes making your own lunches can become laborious and the food boring as we fall into the trap of making the same thing over and over again. This often leads to the start of a vicious circle of eating ready meals, pre-prepared shop bought sandwiches and meals out in restaurants. To overcome this dietary and budgetary problem, Fitodyssey have recommended small changes to our meals which can make a big difference, adding a little seasoning to a chicken breast for example; Simple and cheap but very effective. All of a sudden your lunch becomes that little bit more exciting again…. and manages to hold the temptation of the fast food chains at bay.
The partnership between Fitodyssey and Fisher Jones Greenwood is working very well so far, small changes are starting to add up and the sense of community is building. There is a strong presence across social media with participants and Fitodyssey communicating across particular channels on a regular basis. A Facebook group is now being used for events, motivation and general chit chat, while twitter is being used for real time activities and meal updates. Phase two promises to make even more of a difference, so make sure you check back on our blog soon to see how week three turns out!
We will take a leaf out of Fitodyssey’s book and end on a motivational high. One with fitness connotations.
“The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it, as long as you really believe 100 percent.” – Arnold Schwarzenegger
