NHS delivery targets for 2022
From 1st January 2022, NHS dentists in the UK are obliged to meet 85% of their total NHS Contract activity (90% for orthodontic contracts) or face financial repercussions. There is no lower threshold for delivery as permitted in previous Quarters, meaning clawback is on the cards for practices falling short of this target. The target returns to 100% UDA* delivery from 1st April 2022.
Despite the fact that dentists continue to work hard to recover their patient numbers to the pre-Pandemic levels, the BDA warns that almost two thirds of the practices currently estimate that they are not able to achieve the 85% target for Q4. The BDA are currently liaising with NHS England to raise these issues and to ease the burden on NHS dentists.
