We were delighted to welcome Local Councillor Martin Goss to our newly opened Colchester office at The Tower, Severalls Business Park. During his visit, Councillor Goss toured the exceptional new facilities—designed to enhance the experience for both clients and staff—and met with FJG CEO Paula Fowler.

Over coffee, the conversation covered the evolving legal landscape both locally in Colchester and across the region, with particular focus on the impact of private equity funding on the sector, and the benefits this has bought to our firm.

Councillor Goss, a passionate advocate for the local community, also spoke about his work with the Essex Rebels Basketball Team. He shared his vision of bringing organisations together to pool resources, enabling teams to play across multiple venues. He also expressed hopes of establishing a sister group for North Colchester to further expand opportunities for young athletes.

Supporting Local Youth Through the FJG Foundation

The visit gave a chance to highlight the work of the FJG Foundation, a registered charity committed to supporting children and young people across Essex and Tendring. The Foundation offers grants of up to £500 to organisations delivering extracurricular, sporting, and recreational activities that improve the lives of disadvantaged youth.

Recent recipients include Action for Family Carers, whose Young Carers Club in Chelmsford provides a safe and supportive environment for children aged 8–16 to enjoy games, cookery sessions, and arts and crafts—giving them a vital break from their caring responsibilities.

To date, the Foundation has supported over 36 groups, schools, and charities, demonstrating its commitment to creating meaningful social impact in the communities where FJG operates.

Visits like this enable us to stay connected with the issues that affect our local community, and ensure that our work continues to reflect the needs and aspirations of those we serve.
