Senior Partner & Head of Family
Charlotte Knappett is Senior Partner and Head of Family. Charlotte specialises in many areas, including divorce, finances arising from divorce, private law children matters, child abduction, special guardianship, domestic abuse and fertility law. She has also conducted International Child Abduction cases, representing clients in the Royal Courts of Justice.
Charlotte is recognised in the latest edition of Legal 500 where she is named as a ‘Leading Individual’ for Family Law. She also leads FJG’s Tier 1-ranked Family Law team, which has held this status for twelve consecutive years. Charlotte is additionally ranked Band 4 in the 2026 Chambers Directory, where she is described as providing “the perfect combination of professionalism, sensitivity and support.”
She is a keen and experienced court advocate and collaborative lawyer; as such, she is able to tailor her services to meet the needs of her clients and the circumstances of their case.
During her time at Fisher Jones Greenwood, she has trained many members of the family team and enjoys encouraging personal development.
Her love of the law (and being sociable) extends to her role as the current President of the Mid Essex Law Society and Treasurer of the Colchester Collaborative Lawyers POD.
For the 12th consecutive year, FJG’s Family Law team, led by Charlotte, has maintained its coveted Tier 1 status – a testament to its ongoing excellence and leadership in the field. Charlotte is also recognised as a ranked lawyer in the 2026 Chambers Directory.
Outside of work, Charlotte has a passion for sport, training and competing in CrossFit.
