With completion targeted for 2018, the Hertsmere development will stand 794ft tall on West India Quay Dock, taller than One Canada Square (often incorrectly referred to as Canary Wharf, after its location) at 770ft and towering over Manchester’s Beetham Tower at 554ft, which is currently the UK’s tallest residential development.
Ryan Corporation (UK) Limited has acquired the site for £100m and COO Richard Berridge cites the Crossrail project as helping to ‘unlock the huge potential of development around the periphery of the City’ putting the Hertsmere development in ‘an incredibly desirable location’.
The landmark all-residential development is intended to be ‘more enduring and better quality’ than other developments to ensure that Hertsmere surpasses everyone’s expectations. Richard Berridge went on to say that ‘London continues to be at the heart of the global real estate market and the property market is incredibly buoyant. With our location and with the amazing views, our plans are to invest heavily in creating a new level of luxury that can go head to head with the very best that New York, Dubai or Hong Kong has to offer’.
