Chris Evans’ Surrey pub, which he previously described as “the base” for his Top Gear planning, has gone on the market. The pub went on the market earlier in the year, prior to the new series of Top Gear going live, with an asking price of £1.25million. The Mulberry Inn is currently being marketed by leisure property specialists Fleurets with a freehold price tag of £1.15million. The pub is currently owned jointly by Evans and his business partners Kirit Doshi and Camilla Hanson.

For a number of years, the pub has been famed for its “Supercar Sunday” events, treating car enthusiasts to a display of supercars in aid of charity. In 2011, Evans was seen parked up outside the pub in a £3million Ferrari 599 GTO for a special event he hosted in conjunction with the P1 Supercars Club. A number of Children in Need charity events have also taken place at the pub with Gary Barlow performing in 2013 as part of the annual fundraising drive.

Perhaps Evans’ new found spare time has led to this push to sell the Mulberry Inn and move on to pastures new. The first series of ‘new’ Top Gear was not quite the success that had been hoped for. Rumors and speculation have been spread far and wide since Evans decided to leave. Perhaps he and LeBlanc really didn’t get on, or perhaps, quite simply, the pressure to make the show a success was just too great. Whatever the reason, if the 10 years spent at the Mulberry In are anything to go by, Evans’ new project should be a success. Watch this space!
