Fisher Jones Greenwood (FJG) is once again proud to be supporting St Helena’s Wills Month – with fees for our expert will writing services being donated to support vital hospice care.

Bookings are now being taken for October appointments via the hospice website, with fees being charged at £165 for a single will or £210 for a mirrored will for a couple.

James Bird, Partner in Wills, Life Planning & Probate, and Jade Hunt, Solicitor in our Private Client Department, explain how people can take advantage of the month-long campaign and what to expect from the process.

Why is FJG supporting St Helena Hospice’s Wills Month?

James: At Fisher Jones Greenwood, we believe in giving back to our local communities. By supporting Wills Month, we’re helping local people access professional will-writing services while also raising vital funds for St Helena Hospice, an organisation which touches so many people right across the county. It’s a meaningful way to make a difference – both for individuals planning for the future and for those receiving hospice care.

What does the offer include and how does it work?

Jade: During October, we’re waiving our usual fees for simple wills. Instead of paying us, clients pay St Helena Hospice direct, supporting this vital local charity. It’s a win-win. You save money and you donate to a local charity. Appointments are available at our Colchester office or in your home and we recommend booking early as spaces are limited.

Why is it important to make or update your will?

James: Losing a loved one can be hard for everyone so making a will ensures your wishes are respected and you make life easy as possible for your loved ones after you’ve gone. It gives peace of mind and helps avoid complications later on. If your circumstances have changed, whether through marriage, children or property, it’s important to update your will. Wills Month is the perfect time to do that.

What should people expect during their appointment?

Jade: Appointments are friendly, confidential and tailored to your needs. We’ll guide you through the process, explain your options and make sure your will reflects your wishes. It’s straightforward and usually takes around an hour.

Do people have to leave a gift to charity in their will?

James: There’s no obligation but if you do, you’re helping out a great cause and there can be tax benefits. Even a small legacy can make a big impact for organisations like St Helena Hospice.

How can people book an appointment?

Jade: Visit the St Helena Hospice website to register your interest and choose a participating solicitor. Appointments are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so we recommend booking as soon as possible.
