Solicitor

Spencer Lewis is a Solicitor within the firm’s Litigation Team, based in the Chelmsford Office.

Prior to joining FJG, Spencer was a litigation partner in a niche North London commercial practice.

He specialises in both property and commercial litigation, with extensive experience handling substantial and complex cases in the High Court and County Court. His work covers financial services disputes, commercial agency claims, shareholder disputes, and contractual and consumer matters.

Spencer’s expertise also extends to:

  • Contentious property disputes, including forfeiture and relief, repairs, opposed business lease renewals, cohabitee and ownership disputes, party walls, title and boundary issues. He has considerable experience in both residential and commercial landlord and tenant disputes.
  • Insolvency and debt recovery.
  • Contentious probate – acting for executors, trustees, and beneficiaries in will disputes, Inheritance Act claims, and matters arising from the administration of estates and trusts.
  • Employment law – advising both businesses and individuals on contracts, restrictive covenants, disciplinary and grievance procedures, TUPE, redundancy, and Employment Tribunal claims.

Spencer is often instructed in questioned documents cases, and also on urgent court applications.

He has been involved in several reported decisions relating to directors’ liability for costs, settlement offers, severance of title, and forfeiture.

Spencer is a member of the Property Litigation Association. Outside of work, he enjoys travelling, cinema, and fine malts, and is a supporter of West Ham United.
