I recently had the opportunity to complete a 10-week work experience at Fisher Jones Greenwood (FJG), and I have to say it was an amazing experience. From the moment I arrived, I was made to feel welcome by the friendly and supportive team.
During my time at FJG, I was able to shadow a range of professionals, including solicitors, paralegals and the admin team. They were all knowledgeable and approachable, and I was able to learn a lot from them. I was given the chance to observe client meetings, draft legal documents, and research legal issues. One of the things I appreciated most about my time at FJG was the level of responsibility I was given. Rather than just doing menial tasks I was trusted to work on real cases and make meaningful contribution to the team. This allowed me to develop my skills and gain a better understanding of what it’s like to work within the legal profession.
I was able to cover many departments, such as Dispute Resolution, Wills and Probate, Family Law and Commercial Property. When I covered the Commercial Property department, I had the pleasure of working with Keeley Miller and one of the most interesting aspects of my time with Keeley was learning about her role as a notary public and she took her time to explain the process of becoming a notary public and I was able to see first-hand the meticulous attention to detail that is required for this role.
I could go on and on about the skills each department exposed me to, but overall, my work experience at FJG was a fantastic opportunity that I will always cherish. The supportive team, interesting work and the importance they place on client care made it a truly memorable experience. I would highly recommend FJG to any looking to gain experience in the legal profession.
