Managing Partner, Paula Fowler of local law firm Fisher Jones Greenwood (FJG) completed the Clacton half marathon on Sunday 20th August for local Charity, The Robin Cancer Trust (RCT). The RCT Charity is the UK’s only dedicated germ cell cancer awareness charity. Paula raised £1055 from family, friends, colleagues, and connections for her efforts.

The Clacton Half Marathon

The marathon is held as part of the Clacton Carnival. It is a flat out and back course along the seafront from Clacton to Walton. It is also ideally suited to runners of all standards. This year just over 300 runners took part and Paula felt it was the perfect challenge for her first marathon.

Paula Fowler, Managing Partner at FJG commented: “I am delighted to have raised such a fantastic sum for Robin Cancer Trust but this was my first and will likely be my last half marathon. I am very happy I didn’t come last! The RCT Charity do some fantastic work and I am very proud to have been able to support them.”

The Robin Cancer Trust is not only prolific in its cause locally and nationally; it also has ties to Senior Partners at FJG. Tony Fisher, friend of Paula Fowler, commented: “I remember Toby (Toby Freeman, CEO of the RCT Charity) when he was about 3…..Robin, namesake of the charity was my son Myles’s best friend when they were children. So when Paula decided to run for them I was incredibly pleased.”

The Robin Cancer Trust also recently held their annual ball, which raised an amazing £12,500 for their cause. Their aim is to educate young men and women of the signs & symptoms of testicular & ovarian cancers, through our life-saving awareness campaigns. It is an incredibly important cause and one that should be supported.
