This December, on a chilly Thursday morning, Richard Busby and I visited Billericay Foodbank to learn more about the incredible work they do at this time of year. We had the fun task of shopping with Stuart Gibbs from Billericay Food Bank  to select some products for festive goodie bags, which will be shared with the Billericay community this Christmas.

After the shopping trip, we were warmly welcomed by volunteers at the food bank hub, located in Radford Crescent, Billericay CM12 0DU. Thursday is their busiest day, when they pack and deliver food parcels to more than 50 families across the local area. Importantly, the food bank supports not only families but also individuals and couples, tailoring each parcel to dietary requirements and specific needs to ensure nothing goes to waste.

Richard was particularly impressed by the hub’s organisation, with neatly categorised racks of boxes making it easy for volunteers to find exactly what people need. Beyond cupboard staples, the charity also collects fresh produce—milk, meat, fruit, and vegetables—from local supermarkets, ensuring families receive balanced and nutritious support.

Community contributions play a vital role too. With several drop‑off baskets around Billericay, residents can donate items each week, which are then collected by the food bank. These donations are invaluable in helping the charity continue its mission.

It was a joy to meet such a cheerful and dedicated team of volunteers, and Fisher Jones Greenwood are proud to be involved in supporting their efforts this Christmas.
