For over 10 years, we have been delighted to sponsor the Food Pavilion at the Tendring Hundred Show, which is taking place at Lawford House Park on Saturday 13th July. The show amasses around 25,000 visitors each year and prides itself on being Essex County’s Premier Agricultural event and is a fun day out for all the family.

Returning visitors to the Tendring Show will likely be aware of the sought-after FJG canvas shopping bags given away from the Food Pavilion each year. This gift was introduced when the 5p charge was placed on plastic bags. Since then it is estimated that 15 billion plastic bags have been taken out of circulation (gov.uk) and it is hoped that the FJG grey and white jute bags have helped lower the purchase of single-use plastic carrier bags in Essex by providing the local population with an attractive alternative. Also for 2019, we’re branching out even further with their eco-friendly items in response to the ban on all plastic straws by April 2020. It is estimated 8.5 billion single-use plastic straws are used every year in the UK (BBC) so this year we are giving away reusable bamboo straws to those visiting their stand at the Tendring Hundred Show.

A recent report estimates plastic in the sea is set to treble by 2025 (future of the sea report) and our aim is to promote substitutions to single-use plastic by providing alternatives to the public at their summer event stands and through their sponsorship partnerships.

Paula Fowler, Managing Partner at FJG added, “Fisher Jones Greenwood is a law firm with a conscience. We, pride ourselves on this, not only in our approach to the advice we give but also in terms of our approach to diversity, charity and our community. We also want to help people act in a way which has a positive impact on the environment. We can do this by giving away items that reduce the need for single use plastic. At FJG, we’re aware there needs to be a shift to more sustainable behaviours to protect the planet for future generations and we want our gifts to reflect this.”
