Tony Fisher, Senior Partner at Fisher Jones Greenwood Solicitors was interviewed today after the tragic discovery of 39 dead bodies found in the back of lorry in Grays, Essex. This tragedy highlights the absolute desperation of people fleeing danger and being forced to put their lives in the hands of ruthless migrant gangs who prey on migrants and refugees in order to reach a place of safety.
“This really is a tragic case. Our firm’s immigration team led by Ashlee Campbell help many children who have arrived in the UK without any parent or carer who have undertaken haunting journey’s through Europe to reach a better place. We don’t know the human stories of these unfortunate people but our hearts go out to their families for the great loss they have suffered.”
Tony Fisher is a Fellow of the Human Rights Centre at the University of Essex and former Chair of the Law Society Human Rights Committee.
